Situated on the left bank of the Douro river in Portugal, the proposal retrieves an old building and constructs a new one with the same constructive logic. The old building has the common spaces of the hotel, while the new one has the bedrooms. The restored building dialogues with the new one without excesses. Tradition meets Modernity. The organization of the Hotel project in Douro
We organized the architectural project of the Hotel in Douro in order to make it harmonious in the landscape and enhance the existing heritage. In this sense, we designed the new construction to be shorter so as not to exceed the height of the old building. In parallel, we buried the pool on a terrace with natural light in order to reduce its impact on the landscape. The hotel’s common spaces were located in the old house. As for the rooms, we chose to place the majority of them in the new building.
